To prevent child sexual abuse—both online and offline—through evidence-based education, innovative technology, and youth-centered solutions in Africa and globally.
We specifically address the crisis of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), equip children and educators with digital literacy skills, and build tech tools that recognize and prevent abuse before it happens.

2022: Initiative Launch
Safernet's Child Protection Initiative begins with tech-enabled and education-focused pilot programs.
2022-2023: Expansion of Education & Tech
Scaling to 8+ countries. Launch of Kemi WhatsApp chatbot, digital literacy programs, and educator training on CSAM recognition.
2024: Youth Voice Integration
Reaching 50,000+ children. Structured consultation with children to shape solutions. 2,500+ educators trained on online abuse detection.
2025: Tech Innovation & CSAM Focus
Launch of detection tools, CSAM awareness campaigns, and mobile learning tech. Youth advisory board now driving strategy.

This Child Protection Initiative leverages Safernet's core expertise in digital safety, education, and technology to create a comprehensive approach. We combine tech tools (like Kemi), digital literacy programs, and youth engagement to address both the prevention and response to child sexual abuse.
